Stepping Stones maintain ‘good’ Ofsted rating

Stepping Stones has maintained its ‘good’ Ofsted rating following an inspection of their Childcare setting last month.

The report praises the team for developing ‘strong partnerships with parents and other professionals’ and working consistently ‘to ensure that children’s care and safety are consistently promoted’.

Inspectors found that children are very well supported as they settle in to what is a stimulating environment, with activities carefully planned by the team.

Katie Morgan, Chief Executive of Stepping Stones says ‘I’m delighted with the results of the inspection. Partnership working is very important to us, so I am particularly proud to hear that feedback from parents was so positive.
Our Childcare setting enables mums and carers to attend our services, often at times of crisis, knowing they are leaving their children somewhere safe and stimulating. Parents having trust in us is really important; which makes the feedback all the more special.

Despite the importance of this work, our childcare services remain one of the hardest areas for us to fund. Over the last two years we have reduced staff numbers to ensure we can afford to continue to operate and I’m fully aware that this creates challenges for the team.  The maintenance of our ‘good’ rating is a strong testament to the hard work and commitment of our paid and volunteer team. I am so glad it has been recognised.

We are particularly grateful to Comic Relief, London Luton Airport Ltd, the Pre-School Learning Alliance and the Bedfordshire Police and Crime Commissioner who are jointly funding our childcare provision this year.”
