Childcare services

At Stepping Stones, we provide Ofsted-registered childcare within a safe, nurturing, and inclusive Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) setting.

We care for children and young people aged 0–14 years and are open all year round, Monday to Friday, from 9:00am to 3:00pm. Funded childcare places are available for eligible families, alongside affordable childcare at a rate of £7.50 per hour. We follow Luton Borough Council’s safeguarding policies and procedures, so all children in our care are safeguarded at all times.

Our childcare setting in Luton includes a dedicated outdoor garden and play area. This provides children with opportunities to learn, explore, and develop through outdoor play and nature-based activities.

Why choose us?

We work closely with Local Authority teams, SEND consultants, social care professionals, health services, and other partner agencies to ensure families receive the support they need. Our qualified and experienced staff are committed to creating a welcoming environment where every child can thrive.

Stepping Stones supports women, vulnerable families, and those experiencing challenging circumstances. We understand that many families need additional support, particularly during school holidays. With this in mind, we provide childcare and family support throughout the year.

In addition to our childcare provision, we offer a range of services. These include support groups, counselling, and one-to-one support for parents and families. Our holistic approach helps women and children to build confidence, improve wellbeing, and overcome barriers that may affect family life.

Our Childcare Team

Staff provide a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment for every child. All members of our Childcare team hold a level 3 qualification in childcare. Our manger is currently undertaking a level 7 in Early Years.

We are experienced in supporting children and families affected by domestic abuse and understand the importance of compassion, security, and emotional wellbeing. Our staff welcome all children with open arms and strive to provide the highest standard of care.

Our childcare facility in Luton is rated Good by Ofsted and we provide high-quality childcare throughout the year. We also offer Stay and Play sessions and make full use of our indoor and outdoor learning environments. This helps to encourage child development through play, exploration, and hands-on experiences.

Our vision

We are passionate about supporting vulnerable children and families and about creating strong, trusting relationships. Our vision is to become a fully trauma-informed setting.

Children can be victims of domestic abuse in their own right. We recognise that every child’s experience shapes their development and that compassionate, responsive care can make a lasting difference. With this in mind, we are committed to building our expertise in trauma-informed practice. We aim to provide appropriate support for all the children in our care, including play therapy.

Promoting emotional wellbeing, resilience, and positive outcomes is central to what we do, so we work in partnership with parents, carers, and a wide range of local professionals. Our overall aim is to ensure that every child receives the support they need to feel safe, valued, and reach their full potential.
