It is with sadness that we must announce that the Stepping Out project in Central Bedfordshire will finish at the end of March 2020. This has not been an easy decision, especially as we know there has been a lot of success with this project, and we have enabled women in this area to access support that they otherwise would not have been able to.

The Board has taken the decision as, despite significant effort, we have been unable to secure funding to run this project once the current funding finishes at the end of March 2020. We are keen to support staff, clients and partner agencies with this change. At this time we are not accepting any new referrals for our outreach support. However, if women in Central Bedfordshire are able to travel to our Luton office we would be willing to offer support on site in Luton.

We would like to thank everyone who has been involved and supported the project.

Please contact your local practitioner if you have any concerns or phone the main office number on 01582 457114.

The Stepping Out service aims to ensure women living in Central Bedfordshire experiencing domestic abuse (or having suffered historical abuse) have equal access to support that others in less rural areas have.

The Stepping Out service has specialist staff who help women to keep themselves safe, remove themselves from harmful situations and understand their legal rights. We offer 1-1 support, advice and advocacy for victims of domestic abuse.

We offer support to cope and recover from emotional trauma, build confidence and enable women to move forward positively with their lives.

Our team is able to offer support through scheduled and unscheduled appointments delivered in various community settings.

We work closely with Central Beds Council and our team are co-located within the MASH team where we are able to take on cases that do not meet the social care threshold but where women may need help to disclose and escape abusive relationships.

We also take self-referrals so if you would like to attend one of the community-based surgeries or speak to one of our team please give us a call on 01582 457114.
